frost, ice, and snow COVERED cars

It is the time of year for frost, ice, and snow covered windshields.  I am lucky to wake up some mornings to find that my husband has scrapped my windshield for me.

commuting SAFETY tip:  Make sure your windshields are completely clear before you drive.

Audio Book: A Dog's Purpose

This audio book is NOT recommended to commuters:
  • The book is a tear jerk-er.
  • The same dog is reincarnated several times.
  • Due to the above either do not listen to this book OR only listen to this book on the way home from work.
  • The Pros for this audio book - The book is creative and the reader has a great voice with many different vocal expressions for different characters.
  • I would recommend this audio book for a long car ride where you don't mind a tear or two, but not for day to day commuting.

if we could move SLOW cars out of the way!

I found this on a Google search for "commuting is fun".  Credit goes to Charley Sainsbury
and I found the article at inventorspot.com.

"Commuting can be an extremely stressful part of your life, traveling to work in the morning and then reversing the trek at night.  Wouldn't it be great to be able to take care of this [traffic] problem on your own? How about having some type of crane mounted on the top of your vehicle with a big ole hook that would enable you to clear your own path?"

My thoughts.... The claw does not look like it can support that tonnage, there is an emergency vehicle already on site, and it looks like the red car can hover, so why use the claw?  Now I am just thinking of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and how great it would be to commute in that car (see video below, but please note that I didn't find any good ones of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car flying)!

PS - Maybe if we all sang songs together on our commutes we would be happier.  Translated from 1968 into today's commuter terms - "carpool with people who are not tone deaf".

sleepwalking and COMMUTING do not mix

This is my humorous Toastmasters Speech Division D Contest performance (I was representing Frederick Toastmasters).  In this video I discuss how the hours we spend doing things will add up and how we could accomplish more if we could just utilize sleepwalking to take care of mundane tasks.

This is the 4th speech that I have crafted and delivered.  I was excited to receive 3rd place at the Toastmasters Division level.

I hope you all enjoy and think it is a little bit funny - Judi Fox

Relevance:  I mention COMMUTING to work near the end of the speech.

PS - Here are some of my favorite Toastmaster Humorous Speeches that I found on YouTube and a website that I used for great tips from John Kinde and his blog posts at www.humorpower.com.

      hugs when we get HOME

Who wouldn't want this kind of hug when you get home from DRIVING?

However, I get attacked by this creature.... when I get home!

Audio Book: the power of NOW

I recommend reading the "Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle and "A New Earth", but I would proceed with caution if you want to listen to the Audio Book.  Eckhart Tolle's voice is monotone and could be the cause of a major highway pile up if too many people listen to him all at the same time. However, the positive is that Eckhart is focused on the present moment and the NOW.

This has offset the effect of his voice and I haven't swerved into the other lane recently.  Thanks Eckhart!

      in search of TRAFFIC

Dan thinks commuting is FUN :)  (Credit:  I found this at mycommutesucks.org)

Disclaimer:  Commuting is actually not fun. Traffic should not replace your human relationships.  Seek help if you find yourself loving traffic.

      rules of the ROAD

This reminds me of the 2 miles I drive on Route 29
      AND
2 ski trails merging with a mixture of beginners, intermediates, and kamikaze skiers.

Survival of the FASTEST instincts in both places.

      pets think commuting is FUN

Every morning I have to convince our dog that she doesn't want to commute 1 and 1/2 hours to work with me.  I have obviously made it look like a lot of FUN to her.  This cat has learned that commuting is FUN too!

      this commute would be FUN

This commute brings up some serious logistical questions:

      1. How do you get back to work?
      2. Does everyone else at that office commute to your house too?
      3. How long does it take pruney fingers to recover from the commute?
